And Adam Lambert certainly lived up to his reputation as he stormed the stage at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on Friday night.
The 33-year-old, who has has been touring Australia with tunes from his latest studio album The Original High, performed wearing a futuristic jumpsuit emblazoned with bold white stripes.
The reflective stripe pattern emanated a glow underneath the neon stage lights.
Completing his cyber-glam look, the singer paraded about in a pair of patent knee-high boots and wore a set of leather motorcycle gloves.
The audience were certainly given a visual feast during Adam’s eye-popping performance, with the stage being lit up with a variety of skull-inspired lighting effects.
Adam has gone through an aesthetic re-birth of late, having recently unveiled a decidedly more polished look last year with the release of his single, Ghost Town.
Explaining the impetus behind his recent change in style, Adam told Notion magazine: ‘Someone said to me “Oh, you’re not wearing all that crazy sh*t, are you trying to tone it down?” And I was like “No, I just got tired”‘.
Speaking of his third studio offering, The Original High, Adam said: ‘the album is dance-y but bittersweet, and the lyrics are a little darker [than they have been previously]’.
‘I’ve done the more bubblegum stuff, I’ve done the camp stuff, and now I want to encourage people to face their sh*t,’ he added.
The US-native has recently received several accolades, including being ranked as the highest earning American Idol contestant for 2015 by Forbes.
The eclectic rocker made a large chunk of his income last year by touring with Queen as the band’s lead singer.
He is also set to co-star in the upcoming reboot of The Rocky Horror Picture Show alongside Ryan McCartan and Victoria Justice.
